V Workshop CREIS-2024
On September 17, 2024, the Graduation Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) hosted the V CREIS-UAB Workshop 2024. This annual gathering, organized by the Center for Studies and Research in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation (CREIS), has established itself as a space for reflection on entrepreneurship, innovation, and social economy.
Rosa Maria Sebastián, Vice-Rector for Innovation, Strategic Projects, and Entrepreneurship at UAB, inaugurated the event, highlighting its importance for the dialogue between academia and society. Among the notable presentations, Enrique Ortega presented the update of the Visor-CREIS, Andreu Perez addressed the principles of the Economy for the Common Good, and Hugo Valenzuela analyzed social precariousness. A highlight of the workshop was the case presented by Pilar Mercadé, former president and founder of Prisba, and Jofre Borbonet, collaborator of this organization and former student of MEINS. Their presentation, "My grandmother's social vision: Prisba," illustrated how their experience with UAB's MEINS program allowed them to evaluate and restructure the work of a third-sector organization that provides daytime care for vulnerable elderly people.
The event included a round table on "Management models in the social economy" with the participation of Marc Laboria from PRODIS and Iñaki Irisarri from the Caja de Ingenieros Foundation, moderated by David Urbano from CREIS. The speakers shared experiences in supporting and managing social economy initiatives from their respective organizations. Àlex Rialp, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, closed the event, emphasizing the relevance of the topics discussed for the economic and social future.
