Conferència inaugural Postgrau en Economia Social i Solidària
On January 24th, the inaugural conference of the seventh edition of the postgraduate course "Social and Solidarity Economy: Local Development, Cooperativism, and Social Transformation" was held at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The event took place in the graduation hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business on the Bellaterra campus and was attended by teachers, course students, and representatives from the public administration.
The conference, titled "Social and solidarity economy. Gender-responsive budgeting," was delivered by Dr. Mònica Gil Junquero, a Gender Studies expert and professor at the University of Valencia. During the talk, Gil Junquero analyzed the relationships and links between the social and solidarity economy and feminist economics, specifically through gender-responsive budgeting.
The speaker highlighted the importance of reformulating the public budget to introduce a gender perspective and pointed out that public policies in this area are essential to achieve mainstreaming. Additionally, she expressed her concern about the current system and defended the need to put life at the center, instead of capital.
The event also featured the participation of Roser Hernández Gurrera, Deputy Director General of Social and Solidarity Economy and Cooperatives of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who insisted on the importance of promoting practices in the third sector during the university stage, and Valeri Sorolla, Vice-Dean of Job Placement, Entrepreneurship, and Internships of the UAB's Faculty of Economics and Business, who expressed pride in the evolution of the postgraduate course throughout its seven editions.
